If you are in the market, either online or offline, shopping for NVMe SSDs, then there are several good options to choose from. Western Digital, for example, is offering its 4TB SN8100 (PCIe 5.0) and SN7100 (PCIe 4.0) drives for the lowest prices. Team Group also has its 4TB G50 for just $200 but only for a few more hours.
If you need a 2TB Gen4 option then check out Crucial's T500 that is available for just $125, the lowest it has been in over a year (purchase links down below). Both the heatsink and non-heatsink variants are discounted so you can pick and choose.
The T500 promises speeds of 7400 MB/s and 7000 MB/s in terms of sequential reads and sequential writes. In terms of random throughputs, the T500 claims reads of 1180K IOPS (input output operations per second) and writes of 1440K IOPS. These high random speeds are thanks to the Phison PS5025-E25 controller that packs 2GB LPDDR4-4266 DRAM cache. Thus the drive will not need to access system memory for caching and other purposes.
The Crucial B500 features Micron B58R FortisFlash 232-layer TLC (triple level cell) NAND flash memory with an endurance rating of 1200 TBW (terabytes written).
